Miami

Atlantic Glamour.

A young city on an old bay, where Art Deco hotels, Latin American culture and the Atlantic surf share a single, sunlit stretch of coast.

Atlantic Glamour · Global Beach Destinations

Miami translates beach life into urban energy. Art Deco architecture, Atlantic light, Latin culture, contemporary art and oceanfront living create a destination where resort atmosphere and metropolitan confidence exist side by side.

Tropical Metropolis · North America Luxury Cities

Miami brings together oceanfront living, Latin culture, contemporary art and Art Deco memory. It is both resort city and cultural crossroads, defined by Atlantic light, music, design and a rhythm unlike any other American destination.

The place

Miami is two cities joined by causeways. On the mainland, Brickell and Downtown rise along Biscayne Bay, with the galleries of the Design District and Wynwood to the north and the Cuban streets of Little Havana to the west. Across the bay, Miami Beach runs north along a barrier island from South Beach through Mid-Beach to Surfside and Bal Harbour, where the city becomes quieter and more residential.

Its character comes from its layers. South Beach holds one of the largest concentrations of Art Deco architecture anywhere, restored since the 1980s; Cuban, Venezuelan, Colombian and Caribbean communities have made Spanish as common as English; and an art scene built around institutions such as the Pérez Art Museum Miami now draws collectors as reliably as the beach draws sunbathers.

When to go

The season runs from November to April, when days are warm and dry and the humidity of summer has gone. Early December brings Art Basel Miami Beach and Miami Art Week, the busiest week of the year for the city’s hotels; February adds the Miami International Boat Show, and spring the Formula One Miami Grand Prix at Hard Rock Stadium.

From June to October Miami is hot and humid, with short afternoon storms, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November, peaking in August and September. It is also the quietest time to visit, when restaurants are easier to book and the ocean is at its warmest. For many travellers, April and May strike the balance between good weather and a calmer city.

Where LVXVRY stays

Miami’s leading addresses follow the shoreline. In Brickell, Four Seasons Hotel Miami looks over Biscayne Bay; on the ocean, The Setai Miami Beach and Faena Hotel Miami Beach anchor South Beach and Mid-Beach, while Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club in Surfside and The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort offer a quieter Miami further north.

LVXVRY books the Four Seasons hotels through Four Seasons Preferred Partner and The St. Regis through Marriott STARS & Luminous — at the official hotel rate, with the privileges each programme attaches to the stay. For The Setai and Faena, LVXVRY advises on and arranges the stay directly, and helps decide between the bay, South Beach and the calmer northern shore.
