Private Chalets

Above the Snowline.

Private Chalets is a collection of mountain houses held privately — timber, stone and glass set against snow, at the addresses where alpine life is at its most refined.

A chalet is a house that keeps a season. Its architecture answers weather rather than fashion: deep eaves, warm rooms, a fire that is used, boot rooms and ski rooms, terraces angled at the afternoon light. The best of them work equally in August, when the same terrace faces meadow instead of snow.

Each chalet is chosen for its position on the mountain, its access to the slopes, the quality of its craft and the staff arrangements that make a week effortless — a chef, a driver, a chalet manager who knows which lift opens first after a storm.

From Courchevel, Verbier and Gstaad to Aspen, Niseko and the Dolomites, these are homes for people who measure a year by the first snowfall.
