UNA Esperienze

UNA Esperienze is the upper-upscale collection of UNA Italian Hospitality, the contemporary umbrella identity of Gruppo UNA and Italy's largest hotel chain.

UNA Esperienze is the upper-upscale collection of UNA Italian Hospitality, the contemporary umbrella identity of Gruppo UNA and Italy's largest hotel chain. In 2025 the group entered a major evolution and rebranding phase: UNA Italian Hospitality became the umbrella brand, while UNA Esperienze and UNA Hotels were retained as two distinct hospitality collections. UNA Esperienze occupies the more elevated position, bringing together high-end hotels, resorts, villas and historic residences in some of Italy's most desirable destinations. As of August 2026, the official brand profile lists 21 properties across 15 destinations and 9 regions, with approximately 960 rooms.

The brand

The current UNA system is deliberately simple: "one group, two souls." UNA Esperienze is defined around style and experiences; UNA Hotels around Italian hospitality, comfort and timeless elegance. The parent company currently operates 59 hotels, resorts and aparthotels across 31 destinations and 14 Italian regions, with 6,060 rooms. Within that system, UNA Esperienze is the smaller and more selective collection, while UNA Hotels comprises 38 hotels across 22 destinations and 13 regions.

The corporate history behind the current architecture is more complex. In 2013 Gruppo Unipol acquired Fondiaria SAI and with it Atahotels, separating real-estate assets from hotel management. UNA Hotels & Resorts entered the perimeter in 2016, leading to the merger of the two management companies. Gruppo UNA was formally created in 2018. The 2025 rebranding into UNA Italian Hospitality then clarified the consumer architecture and strengthened the identity of UNA Esperienze as the upper-upscale collection.

Philosophy

UNA Esperienze is officially framed around "Style & Experience": iconic locations where design, history and hospitality meet. The collection describes high-end hotels, resorts, villas and historic residences in exclusive Italian settings, from art cities and coastlines to timeless rural landscapes. Wellness, food and culture are intended to intersect, with meticulous and personalised attention to the guest.

At group level, the philosophy is strongly Italian and place-based. UNA Italian Hospitality describes its role as celebrating Italy through places, people and rituals and encourages guests to move beyond behaving like tourists. UNA Esperienze interprets this philosophy at the more experiential and design-conscious end of the portfolio, using local culture and the surrounding destination as active parts of the stay.

What distinguishes it

The collection is entirely Italian. Rather than export Italian hospitality abroad, UNA Esperienze uses a national network to interpret multiple versions of Italy through cities, countryside and resort destinations.

The 2025 architecture is unusually clear. UNA Esperienze is the upper-upscale "Style & Experience" collection; UNA Hotels is the larger upscale hospitality collection. This avoids the proliferation of numerous sub-brands.

The portfolio mixes historic and contemporary design. Principi di Piemonte in Turin, Posta Donini 1579 near Perugia, Maison Venezia and Milano Verticale represent very different physical expressions under one experiential umbrella.

Neighbourhood immersion is becoming more explicit. Trastevere Roma's 2026 "Rome by Romans" programme turns the hotel into an experience hub through sensory itineraries narrated by artists, artisans and local residents.

The upper end is gaining international luxury distribution. In July 2026 Principi di Piemonte \| UNA Esperienze was accepted into Virtuoso, reinforcing the collection's relevance to luxury travel advisors.

WHO UNA ESPERIENZE IS NOT FOR

UNA Esperienze is a weaker fit for travellers seeking an ultra-luxury global network, rigidly identical hotel hardware or extreme low-density resort seclusion. The collection is upper-upscale overall and heterogeneous by design: historic residences, city hotels, villas and resorts can differ substantially in scale and service intensity. Travellers seeking the highest luxury level should evaluate individual properties rather than assume that every UNA Esperienze hotel occupies the same tier. The collection works best for guests who value Italy, design, history, food, culture, personalised hospitality and destination-specific experiences within a coherent national system.
