Baglioni Hotels & Resorts

Baglioni Hotels & Resorts began in 1974, when Roberto and Lisa Polito established a resort in Punta Ala, Tuscany.

Baglioni Hotels & Resorts began in 1974, when Roberto and Lisa Polito established a resort in Punta Ala, Tuscany. The company built its identity around an explicitly Italian idea of luxury: historic cities, Mediterranean leisure, art, fashion, cuisine and personalised hospitality rather than a neutral international hotel language. By August 2026 the official brand site presents seven operating properties in two countries — four city hotels in Milan, Venice, Rome and Florence, two Italian resorts in Sardinia and Puglia, and Baglioni Maldives Luxury All-Inclusive.

The brand

Baglioni operates today as a compact international collection rather than a large chain. Its official portfolio is clearly divided into four city hotels and three resorts. The city group comprises Casa Baglioni Milan, Baglioni Hotel Luna Venice, Baglioni Hotel Regina Rome and Palazzo Firenze by Baglioni Hotels & Resorts. The resort group comprises Baglioni Resort Sardinia, Baglioni Masseria Muzza Resort & Spa in Puglia and Baglioni Maldives Luxury All-Inclusive.

The current corporate-information page states that The Palace Company Europe S.r.l. manages the hotels and resorts listed by the brand. This is important to the modern ownership picture: Baglioni retains its Italian name, style and hospitality identity, while the operating structure is now corporate. The collection remains deliberately concentrated, with Italy as its cultural and geographic centre and the Maldives as its principal international resort extension.

Philosophy

Baglioni defines its mission through unforgettable experiences, uniqueness and Italian excellence and hospitality. The brand's current promise is the "unforgettable Italian touch": warm spaces, personalised and multicultural service, and properties intended to live in harmony with their destinations. Italian identity is therefore not presented only through décor; it is expressed through food, art, culture, fashion, social life and the rhythm of the destination.

The brand also increasingly frames resort luxury around slowness, nature and presence. Its 2026 resort language for Puglia, Sardinia and the Maldives emphasises space, silence, authenticity, wellness rituals, local flavours and carefully curated experiences. This gives the collection two complementary modes: culturally dense Italian city hospitality and restorative Mediterranean or tropical resort stays.

What distinguishes it

Italian identity is explicit. Baglioni does not try to become culturally neutral as it expands; the brand makes Italian style, hospitality, cuisine and cultural confidence its central promise.

The portfolio is compact and legible. Seven properties divide cleanly into four historic-city hotels and three resorts, making the collection easy to understand without diluting it across multiple tiers.

City hotels occupy cultural addresses. Brera in Milan, St Mark's Square in Venice, Via Veneto in Rome and Santa Croce in Florence connect the hotels directly with art, fashion, history and urban life.

Resorts extend the same language into nature. Sardinia, Salento and the Maldives use wellness, gastronomy and landscape to create a slower counterpart to the city portfolio.

Gastronomy carries serious weight. Casa Baglioni highlights a restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Claudio Sadler, while Palazzo Firenze incorporates dining including three-Michelin-starred Enoteca Pinchiorri, making cuisine a visible part of the collection's luxury proposition.

WHO BAGLIONI HOTELS & RESORTS IS NOT FOR

Baglioni is a weaker fit for travellers seeking a very large worldwide network, a points-driven loyalty ecosystem, highly standardised hotel hardware or an ultra-minimalist retreat philosophy. The collection is small, strongly Italian in cultural tone and physically diverse: a Venetian historic hotel, a Milan design address, a Puglian masseria and a Maldivian all-inclusive island resort are intentionally different products. Baglioni works best for travellers who value Italian style, historic urban locations, gastronomy, personalised service, Mediterranean leisure and a compact collection whose identity is cultural rather than corporate-standardised.
