Canada’s Luxury Destinations
Seven Canadian cities and two mountain resorts, each with its own grand hotel and its own season.
For Canadian travellers the finest journey sometimes begins without a passport. The country’s great cities were shaped by the railway, the rivers and the sea, and most of them still keep the grand hotel the railway gave them — a château above the water, a lobby where weddings, anniversaries and long weekends have been celebrated for a century. Beyond the cities, the same railway carried travellers into the mountains, and its hotels in the Rockies and the Coast Mountains belong to the same story. This collection reads them all as destinations in their own right.
Nine destinations make up the collection: Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver and Québec City, joined by Ottawa, Calgary and Victoria, and in the mountains Banff and Lake Louise in the Rockies and Whistler in the Coast Mountains. Together they cross the country from the Pacific to the St. Lawrence — a theatre weekend, a winter carnival, a summer festival, a week of skiing or hiking above a glacial lake — and each portrait describes the stay that suits the occasion best.
