K2 Collections, Courchevel

Le K2 Collections is a family luxury hospitality group born in Courchevel in 1998, when Philippe and Suzanne Capezzone transformed a chalet into a high-end hotel.

Le K2 Collections is a family luxury hospitality group born in Courchevel in 1998, when Philippe and Suzanne Capezzone transformed a chalet into a high-end hotel. From that first Alpine project grew a distinctive collection shaped by French mountain hospitality, Tibetan and Himalayan references, architecture, gastronomy, wellness and highly personalised service. The group now operates four hotels in the French Alps — Le K2 Palace, Le K2 Altitude and Le K2 Djola in Courchevel, and Le K2 Chogori in Val d'Isère — alongside private chalets. In 2026 the Maldives is identified by the official group site as a coming destination, marking the collection's planned transition from a French Alpine house toward international hospitality.

The brand

Le K2 Collections is an independent family luxury hotel group founded and led by the Capezzone family. Philippe Capezzone is President and Founder; Suzanne Capezzone is Co-Founder and Chairwoman; the next generation is directly involved in the company, including Thomas Capezzone as Vice President and Emily Capezzone in operations at Le K2 Chogori. The group describes family values, guest satisfaction, innovation and a constant pursuit of excellence as central to its management culture.

The current operating portfolio comprises four Alpine hotels. Courchevel contains Le K2 Palace, Le K2 Altitude and Le K2 Djola; Val d'Isère contains Le K2 Chogori. The houses differ substantially in scale and positioning, from Palace-level hospitality and private chalets to a smaller city-hotel format. What connects them is a shared design vocabulary created through Capezzone Architecture, personalised service, gastronomy, wellness and a recurring dialogue between the French Alps and Himalayan culture.

Philosophy

Le K2 Collections combines family hospitality with a deliberately authored vision of Alpine luxury. Its management philosophy emphasises attention to each guest, innovation, team culture and tailor-made service. The objective is not simply to provide high-end mountain accommodation, but to create houses whose architecture, restaurants, spas, ski services and human interaction form a coherent experience.

The Himalayas provide the collection's most recognisable cultural motif. Wooden doors, iron details, Sanskrit inscriptions and Tibetan influences are used to create a sense of travel beyond the Alps without erasing the mountain setting of Courchevel or Val d'Isère. The brand's strongest properties therefore operate through a dual geography: materially French Alpine, imaginatively connected to the Himalayas.

What distinguishes it

Family management remains structural. The Capezzone family is visible across ownership, design, strategic development and hotel operations, giving the group a continuity that differs from asset-light international hotel systems.

Architecture is internally authored. Capezzone Architecture has imagined the group's prestigious residences, allowing design, construction and hospitality identity to develop together rather than being assembled from unrelated external concepts.

Gastronomy is unusually important. Michelin-starred dining has been central to the group's reputation, including the pastry-led Sarkara at Le K2 Palace and other ambitious restaurant concepts across Courchevel and Val d'Isère.

Four hotels serve several Alpine luxury formats. Le K2 Palace is the flagship Palace; Le K2 Altitude is an intimate ski-in/ski-out luxury house; Le K2 Djola is a smaller central Courchevel city hotel; Le K2 Chogori extends the collection into Val d'Isère.

International expansion is now explicit. The official group site lists the Maldives as coming soon. This is strategically significant because it would move Le K2 Collections beyond the French Alps for the first time.

WHO K2 COLLECTIONS, COURCHEVEL IS NOT FOR

Le K2 Collections is a weaker fit for travellers seeking a broad worldwide network, a conventional points-and-status loyalty ecosystem, warm-weather resort choice today or identical hotel scale across the collection. Its current operating portfolio is entirely Alpine and seasonal, and its houses vary from Palace luxury to a much smaller city-hotel format. Guests who prioritise global consistency may prefer an international operator, while travellers seeking restrained minimalism may find the collection's Himalayan references and decorative identity more expressive. Le K2 Collections works best for guests who value Courchevel and Val d'Isère, family ownership, ski hospitality, gastronomy, wellness, private chalets, design and highly personalised service.
